Meeting in January of 2022, Joey and Trina's love story didn't really take a conventional path; Neither of them were happy to be found at Fort Eustis in the middle of a medical discharge from the Army and both of them were getting out of relationships. Thrown together as "Battle Buddies" they began to lean on each other for support.

Joey wanted to travel and asked Trina if she wanted to join him. While the original plan was to drive and travel cross country, that is not what happened; it turned into a month long adventure consisting of a week long trip in Colorado, a trip around NYC, 2 weddings, catching Covid, and working our way through 10 different states. At this point, they were only dating a few months and Trina was planning to move to Florida where Joey resided. By October of the same year, they were living together after 6 months of dating.

In the past three years, they have grown their family by two (Evoo and Jumba), changed jobs, gained a career and learned how to navigate difficult situations as a couple. One of these situations was getting to enjoy Joey’s first REAL snowstorm in Boston and consequently getting stranded and having to sleep in the BWI airport. Another would be when the AC in the townhome wasn’t working and the house was 95 degrees. That happened to also be Trina’s first week at her new job and Joey wanted to go to dinner to celebrate. On their way out, they realized they needed to go back for keys to the car, but the keyless entry stopped working entirely. An hour later, they were finally in the house, the lock was in shambles, there was a hole in the front door, they were sweaty and starving, down $300, and still had no AC. They have had their fair share of adulting struggles, but they wouldn’t want to struggle beside anyone else. If they can get through travel plans failing, being too hot, and being hangry with level heads and a smile, they can surely navigate other struggles.
